Visions Medical Step Closer to Construction on Washington Street

A doctor is a step closer to opening a 21,000 square foot office building on Washington Street in Dedham following approval of its site plan on Thursday.

The Dedham Planning Board OK'd Visions Medical's plan for 910 Washington St., .

"We are just adding a little bit, a small piece," Dr. Edward Levitan  said.

Levitan leases , and is looking to expand his practice. The new building would house no more than 14 professionals, who on average would see a maximum of two patients an hour each.

Plans call for a larger footprint for the office building and for 90 parking spaces.

Currently the entrance into the property doesn't have a curb, and Planning Board members have spoken up about line of sight with cars coming in the northbound lane of Washington Street.

Visions would create a landscaped separation between the parking lot and the road, and put a driveway at the northern most point of the property.

The board plans to add a condition of no left turn out of the driveway, forcing drivers to take a right-hand turn and drive to Providence Highway in order to head southbound.

Once Visions Medical receives its final certificate of action, it will begin work on the project, which Levitan said would take six to nine months to complete.

"I implore you to use local help in these economic times," Planning Board member Jay O'Brien said. "If possible, try to use people in the area."
