Should Smoking be Banned in Boston Parks?
Attendees of First Night 2014 should note that violating the ban could result in fines of up to $250.
Boston officials have adopted a smoking ban in all of the city's park properties.
The Boston Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously to approve the ban Monday evening, according to MyFoxBoston.com, and attendees of Boston's First Night 2014 in particular should note that it goes into effect immediately.
The ban was originally proposed by Mayor Thomas Menino and approved by Boston City Council members on Nov. 20, according to the report.

Park patrons will be prohibited from smoking tobacco, marijuana or any other materials on parks and public spaces that are controlled by the city's Parks and Recreation department, according to the report.
Boston police officers and park rangers will enforce the ban, which is punishable of $250 per violation.
