Selectmen Approve Plan for Sidewalk Clear Path in Dedham Square

The path is meant to provide pedestrians a pathway through the square that's clear of street furniture.

The Dedham Board of Selectmen last week approved a plan for a sidewalk clear path through the immediate area of Dedham Square.

"The intent of this plan is to provide pedestrians in the square a 6-foot wide pathway throughout the square that will be clear of any street furniture to provide a safe and open environment to enjoy the square," the selectmen said in a statement.

The areas in the square where street furniture can be placed without interference with the clear path are also included in the plan; the areas required a minimum of 3.5 feet in width to allow for the placement of benches and/or tables and chairs.
