Representative McMurtry and Senator Rush Announce Accomplishments

Prescription monitoring and job creation are just a few of the accomplishments made during the 2011-2012 session.

Economic development in Dedham Square, and prescription drug monitoring are just a couple of the accomplishments made by State Senator Mike Rush and Representative Paul McMurtry during their 2011-2012 legislation year.

"This session continued to encompass reform, efficeincy and transparency in nearly every aspect of major legislation,"Representative Paul McMurtry said.  "I was happy to deliver on the many significant issues and concerns of those I represent."

The Economic Development and Job Creation bill is the reason why Massachusetts invested $1.7 million into Dedham Square.  This not only created construction jobs, but its expected to help small businesses by increasing pedestrian traffic once completed.

There was also a big push for the Prescription Monitoring bill this year.  This bill is expected to help reduce the amount of prescriptions for pain killers given by doctors.  And it will also help prevent patients from "doctor shopping" for medications like Oxycontin and Vicodin.

Another highlight was the approval of the Valor Act.  This bill provides support for veteran owned businesses.  This also provides greater access to financial assitance for veterans who own small businesses.
