I would like to encourage your readers to contact State Rep. Paul McMurtry (D-Dedham) at 617-722-2015 and State Sen. Michael Rush at 617-722-1348 to encourage them to override Gov. Deval Patrick’s recent veto of the Human Services Salary Reserve.

Put simply, the Salary Reserve would give modest raises to some of the lowest-paid workers in the Commonwealth whose jobs are crucial in helping people living with disabilities. They are the backbone of the human services industry.
They have gone five years without a salary increase, weathering this crippling recession.

We urge everyone who cares about people living with disabilities, and wants to see them to continue to thrive, to encourage their legislators to override the Salary Reserve veto. The increase the Salary Reserve would provide is small, but critically necessary to the tens of thousands of people who provide an endless supply of care to our Commonwealth’s most vulnerable people.
