Governor's Councilor Kelly Timilty Dies at 49

Roslindale resident represented Dedham, others in District 2 on the council for 18 years.

Governor's Councilor Kelly Timilty passed away Tuesday. She was 49.

Timilty served under five governors as an elected official for District 2. She was a Roslindale resident.

“Councilor Timilty was not only a dedicated and outstanding public servant, but also a good friend, said , D-West Roxbury. “Her passing at such a young age is a terrible loss to her husband Jim, the Timilty family and the people of our community. My thoughts and prayers are with the Timilty family."

Governor Deval Patrick and Lt. Gov. Tim Murray offered statements, as well.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and family of Kelly Timilty,” said Patrick via press release. “Kelly was a kind and friendly person who loved public service and was an effective voice for her constituents on the Governor’s Council. She will be sorely missed by those who worked with her over her many years of dedicated service.”

“Kelly Timilty served her district and the Commonwealth proudly for many years,” said Murray via press release. “As a member of the Governor’s Council and staff for former Congressman Moakley, she will be remembered for her good work and commitment to public service. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.”
