Earth Hour

The Town of Dedham's Sustainability Advisory Committee, with support from the Board of Selectmen will be participating in Earth Hour 2012 on Saturday, March 31st from 8:30pm-9:30pm. Earth Hour is a one-hour event starting at 8:30pm on Saturday, March 31, where cities, businesses, and residents around the world turn off all non-essential lighting for that one hour.  The purpose of this event is to create awareness of energy-related emissions and initiate conversations around how personal and systemic changes can help reduce energy consumption and attendant emissions.  Last year, over 5,200 cities and towns across 135 countries participated.

The Sustainability Advisory Committee together with the Board of Selectmen are asking residents and busineess to support this event by evaluating non-essential lighting that could be shut off for one hour on Saturday, March 31st.

We hope that you will join us in this movement for change, because we only have one planet. Visit www.earthhour.org for more information and ways to celebrate Earth Hour.
