Dedham Woman Stuck in Ukraine

Christine Caswell McCarron has been stranded in the Ukraine for three weeks due to passport issues with her adopted daughter, according to The Boston Herald.

U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch says that he’s pushing the State Department to help bring back a Dedham woman who is stuck in the Ukraine due to passport delays for her new adopted daughter, according to The Boston Herald.  Christine Caswell McCarron has been stuck for three weeks.

Caswell McCarron and her husband traveled to the Ukraine last month to finalize the adoption of Kristina.  But now kristin needs a passport in order to travel out of the country.  According to the family, there is a backlog of passport applications that are causing the delay.

“Christine can leave because she has a passport, but she’s not going to leave our daughter there and Kristina can’t go back to the orphanage because she is now legally our daughter, so they’re stuck in Kiev,” Michael McCarron told the Herald.

According to the family, there are also other families that are stranded.

"I’m not sure when I’m getting out of here. It’s certainly wearing me down at this point and a lot of the other families, too,” Christine Caswell McCarron said to the Herald on a phone call from Kiev. “I feel frustrated because I’m not with my other children.”
