Dedham, Westwood Residents Intern with State Rep. Paul McMurtry

One from Dedham and two from Westwood will help the state representative with various legislative affairs and attend meetings, among other duties.

A Dedham resident is joining two students from Westwood as part of an internship at the office of State Rep. Paul McMurtry (D-Dedham), according to an announcement from McMurtry's office Monday.

Brandon Pelchat of Dedham, as well as Arjun Vishwanath and Noah Ouellette, of Westwood, have been selected to the internship.

Pelchat will be a senior at Dedham High School in the fall, while Vishwanath, a 2012 graduate of Nobles and Greenough in Dedham, will attend Swarthmore College in the fall. Ouellette, meanwhile, will be a senior at .

"Arjun, Noah and Brandon bring a depth of interest, enthusiasm and dedication in assisting in my service to the citizens of the 11th Norfolk District," McMurtry said in a statement.

Among the responsibilities for the new interns will be researching and drafting legislation, attending committee hearings and legislative briefings, addressing and resolving constituent matters and establishing communication with all state agencies.

“I am confident these fine young men will benefit from a unique experience that will have a profound and positive lifelong impact," McMurtry stated. “I welcome each of them to the State House and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”

The three will assist McMurtry with his committee assignments in his role as Vice Chairman of the Tourism, Arts and Culture Committee, Small Business and Community Development and Mental Health and Substance Abuse.
