Dedham Voters to Decide Three Contested Races Saturday

Dedham voters will decide two seats for Board of Selectmen, two for School Committee and one contested seat for the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Voters will get a chance at the polls Saturday as candidates in three contested races will see if the hours of holding signs, debating and talking issues will pay off.

Two seats are up for grabs on the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee while one seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission is under contention.

Three years ago two new faces - and - stormed into the Francis O'Brien Meeting Room by sweeping each of the seven precincts. Now they face two newcomers - and - and perennial candidate Sabino "Citizen Sam" Celata.

Candidates have spent the better part of three debates dissecting the , including at the on Monday.

Voters have an opportunity to choose two selectmen, each for three-year terms.

Meanwhile, the School Committee has one open seat as Tracy Driscoll decided not to seek another term. Chairman Tom Ryan, a nine-year veteran of the committee, is seeking to hold onto his seat. John Maida, currently a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, and Susan Butler Walko are challenging Ryan for one of the two seats.

Two men are seeking election to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Donald Reisner, a current board member, and Chuck Dello Iacono are vying for a single seat for a one-year term. Dello Iacono and Reisner sounded off on the , and .

With a hotly contested Square project on the horizon for Town Meeting next month, with 15 candidates for 13 seats.
