Dedham Selectman Gives Birth to A Boy

There's a new addition to Selectman Sarah MacDonald's family.

Dedham Selectman Sarah MacDonald is doing well after she gave birth to a boy on Sunday.

Selectmen Chairman Mike Butler said she shared the good news with the rest of the selectmen Sunday.

“With new media, we are all following the new family with pictures on Facebook,” Butler said. “ Since we (selectmen) are all fathers, we know this is a very exciting time for Sarah, her husband Sean and son Griffin and we want to give them much needed space."

MacDonald will be given time to recover and recharges and it will be up to her when she decides to return to the board, Butler said.

“The Board will continue to meet as required,” Butler said. “A quorum of 3 Selectmen is required to vote on agenda items so Sarah's absence will not affect us as long as three Selectmen are present.”

MacDonald took care of a number of items over the past month, putting the board of selectmen in good position to carry on without her while she is out on maternity leave.

MacDonald has been on the Board of Selectmen since 2008.
