Dedham Resident Wins Prestigious Public Service Award

Only ten are chosen within state government to receive this recognition.

Governor Deval Patrick presented Department of Revenue chief economist and Dedham resident Kazim Ozyurt with a plaque at a special State House ceremony to honor ten state employees who won the Manuel Carballo Governor’s Award for Excellence.  This award is one of the Patrick Administrations highest recognition for public workers.

“I am thrilled that Kazim has been chosen to receive this honor,” Revenue Commissioner Amy Pitter said . “Despite the economic challenges the Commonwealth has faced, Kazim has persevered to give us astute guidance on a number of issues, from the state’s fiscal outlook to how well tax credits work.”

As Director of DOR’s Tax Policy Analysis Office, Ozyurt put together and analyze data regarding tax expenditures both nationally and internationally and has even contributed to Tax Expenditure Commission projects.

Ozyurt also worked on transparency reporting methods that have been able to increase the productivity of the Massachusetts economy.

“It is very exciting to be honored with this award,” Ozyurt said after receiving the recognition. “I am committed to a career that helps improve public services in the Commonwealth and enjoy working with my colleagues who are extremely dedicated in their work.”
