Dedham Election Numbers Slow, Parking Issues at Riverdale

The polls were slow through the early afternoon in Saturday's town election.

From each of the five polling locations, the theme was the same - slow, but on target with past town elections.

No problems were reported at the polls, except for at . Voters and election officials said the school's parking lot was full because of youth soccer matches being played at the school, preventing would-be voters from parking.

Precinct 2, based at Riverdale, had 245 voters as of 2 p.m.

By 2 p.m., 1,625 voters had submitted ballots at Dedham's seven precincts. Counts were taken between 12:15 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Election officials and sign holders said the nice weather could in fact keep turnout low - between the opening day for soccer, a chance to get yard work done, and the first nice weekend day of the spring.

Selectmen candidates - with her mother - and - and his sisters - were outside polling places in town holding signs. Selectman Carmen Dello Iacono was outside holding a sign for his brother Chuck Dello Iacono, who is running for the Parks and Recreation Commission.
