A proposal to purchase the Ames Schoolhouse for the purpose of a new Municipal Campus project passed at Dedham Town Meeting Monday night.

The project passed with a two-thirds vote, according to reports from former Dedham Selectman Sarah MacDonald and Dedham Square Circle, which also issued a letter Monday regarding its position on the project.

Warrant Article 19 looked at the purchase of the Ames Schoolhouse for the proposed Municipal Campus that would comprise the town's police station, senior center, town hall and fire department. The project would be rolled out in three phases and cost a total of about $28,284,000. For more on the project, click here.

Town Meeting members also voted in favor Monday of a proposed Arts Overlay District for East Dedham, according to the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center. Article 28 sought to amend Dedham's zoning bylaws to establish the district to encourage the development, preservation and enhancement of arts-related uses in East Dedham.
