Teenager Rescued from Swamp

Roslindale teenager treated for hypothermia.

Dedham firefighters rescued a teenager from a swamp Friday night.

According to Fox 25, the 17-year-old Roslindale boy was near the train tracks and fell into the swamp after becoming disoriented. An hour after his fall, someone from a nearby building heard his calls for help and contacted rescue crews.

The boy had to be treated for hypothermia at Norwood Hospital.

I listened to my scanner as the rescue took place, and I am so proud of our Fire Department. The men were in that swampy, muddy area for a long time, trying to find the teen and then trying to bring him out. A couple of the guys had difficulty because they were stuck and couldn't move well...but their first concern was for the teen, not themselves. Thank you to the dedicated men who work day and night to protect and save us.
