Shoplifters Strike Victoria's Secret, Multiple Incidents Under Investigation

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Monday, June 9 

At about 7;15 p.m., Dedham police responded to a report of a larceny, after a caller claimed mail had been missing from his residence over the course of several weeks. Police filed a report and informed the resident to contact the U.S. Post Office about the matter. 

Tuesday, June 10

At about 9:33 a.m., Dedham Animal Control received a report that a dog owned by a Colwell Drive resident was loose and acting aggressive. The Animal Control officer verified that there is no report of a dog currently licensed at the address, and after responding to the location found no one home. 

At 9:35 a.m., the animal control officer received a complaint from a Bingham Street resident regarding a neighbor's dog defecating along his fence. 

At 1:33 p.m., the Animal Control officer received a call from Town Hall regarding a barking dog in the area of Colonial and Bussey streets. A caller reported that multiple labradors were at an address in the area and were allowed to bark often, but provided no other information. The Animal Control officer verified the address and responded to the area but saw or heard no barking dogs. The officer spoke with the owner, who said she did not have the dogs out that day and when they are out barking, she brings them into the house.

At 6 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Congress Place on a report of a hit-and-run accident. Upon arrival police spoke with a caller who claimed that at about 5 p.m. a man observed a white Ford pickup truck back out of a driveway and hit another vehicle, then fled the area. The man provided a license plate number of the truck; the other vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, sustained damage to the left front fender and left headlight area.

At 7:02 p.m., police responded to Victoria's Secret at Legacy Place on a report of a past larceny. Upon arrival police spoke with staff, who claimed that sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., about $500 worth of merchandise had been stolen out of two trays located in the middle of the store. No suspects were located at the time. 

At 9:59 p.m., police responded to a report of eggs being thrown at a local residence. Upon arrival officers found the house had been egged and spoke with a caller who claimed she could not think of anyone that would be suspect of throwing the eggs. No other homes in the area were affected. 

Wednesday, June 11

At 11:26 a.m., Dedham Animal Control received a report of a dog being attacked by a raccoon on June 9 in the area of River Street. The ACO visited the address and spoke with the pet owner, who claimed her dogs had an altercation with a raccoon that had gotten into her fenced-in yard. The dogs reportedly were no injured or had any wounds, but the raccoon reportedly had a wound to its face. The ACO suggested the owner contact her veterinarian to discuss precautionary options. 

At 6:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious package left at a bus stop on Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers found a small backpack on the sidewalk. The Dedham Fire Department arrived on scene and checked the bag, which was fond to contain clothing and papers. 

At 9:26 p.m., an employee of Victoria's Secret told police that three females stole $657 worth of women's underwear from the business. 

Thursday, June 12

At 8:10 p.m., police responded to Victoria's Secret on a report of shoplifting. At about 6 p.m., a female reportedly "scouted" the store and then engaged in conversation to ask for assistance, but didn't purchase any items. At 8 p.m., about four females, including the original, entered the store, and one of them was observed running out of the store with a bag. Staff checked the store and found that two drawers of women's underwear were taken, valued at $625. The three remaining females were spoken to and fled the store when they found the police were being called. Police were unable to locate the suspects.
