UPDATE: No Injuries as Utility Pole Crashes on Fire Truck

The incident happened at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Fire officials say a fire truck that felt the electrical wrath of a downed utility pole didn't sustain any significant body damage, and they are assessing the truck's electrical systems.

Firefiighters responded to Colburn Street Tuesday evening for a report of low-hanging wires. The next thing they knew, a utility pole snapped at the bottom and crashed onto Engine 3, Fire Deputy John Fontaine said Wednesday.

There were localized power outages, and readers reported power came back on at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday - just about the time firefighters were able to move the truck, Fontaine said.

Power was knocked out to sections of East Dedham Tuesday evening, including Colburn and Thomas streets after a utility pole came crashing down on top of a Dedham fire truck.

No one was reported injured, according to a fire official. The official said he couldn't release details of how the pole fell onto the fire truck.

NStar and Verizon crews were called to the scene to deal with the downed pole and downed wires.

Fire crews also responded to unrealted brush fires Tuesday night at the same time that Engine 3 was out of commission.
