Police Log: Wrong-Way Driver Cited for OUI; Theft Spree Hits Dedham

The following is an excerpt from the Dedham Police Department log from Oct. 6-9. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account.

Sunday, Oct. 9

  • At 1:40 a.m., police pulled over Glenna Saulnier, 51 of Bellingham, as she drove the wrong-way on Providence Highway. Officers stated she had slurred speech and admitted to having a few rum and Coke cocktails at a party before driving. Saulnier allegedly failed field sobriety tests. Police charged Saulnier with operating under the influence and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At about 11:30 a.m., four separate callers reported car larcenies near Dedham Square. Cars parked on Village Avenue and Chestnut Street reported items stolen were: Ray Ban sunglasses, an iPod, a purse, CDS, loose change, $20 in quarters and a video camera. Several of the cars were unlocked, reports stated.

  • At 4:54 p.m., police issued a parking ticket to a woman at for illegally parking in a handicap spot. The woman reportedly told witnesses and police that she, "didn't care that it was a handicap spot" and "she could park anywhere she wanted." She was trespassed from Legacy Place.
  • At 9:55 p.m., a caller reported that two men tried to entice two kids playing night games on Sherman Road to get into their pickup truck. The kids refused and yelled at friends to run away. The truck took off and police couldn't locate it by the time they arrived. A child described the passenger as a bald white male in his early 30s and he was wearing a white V-neck shirt. The child couldn't describe the driver.

Thursday, Oct. 6

  • At 6:30 p.m., a resident reported that a GPS, a charger and loose change was stolen from her car while is was parked on Colwell Drive. 
  • At 7:30 p.m., a woman reported her work briefcase was stolen from her car while shopping at . The briefcase was found on Friday in the woods across from the store with everything inside except cash.
