Police Log: Thieves Pounce on Unlocked Cars

Sunday, March 18

  • At 5:16 p.m., Dedham Police arrested Daniela Polanco, 26 of Hyde Park, and charged her with domestic assault.
  • At 3:10 p.m., police responded to Archery USA for a report of road rage.
  • At 2:10 p.m., a driver turned left from an exit at Legacy Place onto Elm Street, despite signs that prohibit the turn. A check of the driver's record revealed that his registration was suspended. The car was towed.

Friday, March 16

  • At 10:33 p.m., police arrested 46-year-old Dominic Vitiello, of Dedham, and charged him with domestic assault.
  • At 7:49 p.m., police arrested Michael Green, 29 of Dedham, and charged him with domestic assault. 
  • At 7:22 a.m., a caller reported that someone stole a GPS and a cell phone charger from his car overnight while it was parked on Maynard Road. Later Friday morning, police received calls for additional car break-ins on Fisher Road, Bingham Avenue and another on Maynard Road.
  • At 1:44 a.m., police fielded a call about two car break-ins on Corbett Avenue. A camera was taken from one of the cars, and the other was ransacked, police stated. Both cars were unlocked at the time of the incident.

Thursday, March 15

  • At 7:32 p.m., a sick raccoon in the backyard of a Cedar Street home was shot and killed by a police officer.
  • At 3:19 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash on Elm Street near the intersection of Robinwood Road. A car heading toward Providence Highway attempted to turn on Robinwood Road from the right-hand lane, cutting off a car in the left lane. One person was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
  • At 12 p.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run on Providence Highway near Lens Crafters. A man stated he saw a van hit his car and then take off. Police are investigating. 

Wednesday, March 14

  • At 6:09 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Lyons Street after a man dozed off and hit another car from behind. Two people were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
  • At 1:45 p.m., a resident reported that someone had stolen two GPS units and a winter jacket were missing from his car. He said that the car might have been left unlocked the night before.

Tuesday, March 13

  • At 1:41 p.m., a resident reported that her vehicle was hit with paint balls on both the windshield and the passenger side window while parked on Washington Street.
