Police Log: Norwood Pair Charged in Grocery Theft

Wednesday, Jan. 4

  • At 6:04 p.m., police responded to on Bussey Street for a report of a theft. Video surveillance shows a suspect putting baby formula into his jacket. Police believe he is the same suspect who t another larceny in Dedham in late December.
  • At 7:04 p.m., police arrested 24-year-old Robert Doherty, of Dedham, on a default warrant for charges of breaking and entering and malicious destruction of personal property.

  • At 9:38 a.m., police arrested Daniel Johnston, of Savin Hill, on charges related to a Dec. 18, 2011 home break-in report. According to police Johnston's fingerprints were left at the scene where he allegedly stole several items of jewelry, including a 1939 Boston Herald City Spelling Bee champion medallion. He was arrested and charged at .
  • At 3:15 p.m., police arrested a pair of Norwood residents at on Providence Highway for allegedly trying to steal more than $315 worth of groceries. Police stated Quentin Joseph, 35, and Moniece Petrie, 35, under-scanned items as they shopped, scanning just $45 worth of groceries. When they arrived at a self-service register, they didn't attempt to pay for groceries and tried to leave the store, according to police. Both were charged with larceny over $250.
  • At 8:07 p.m., police arrested 30-year-old Cory Menice, of Westwood, after he walked out of with $306 wort of electronics and jewelry, according to reports. Menice allegedly told police that he left the store to try to retrieve a debit card from his car, and forgot to leave the items. He was charged with larceny over $250 and also arrested on two active warrants.

Saturday, Jan. 7

  • At 5:11 p.m., one person was transported to the hospital following a two-car accident on Providence Highway.
