Police Log: Man Catches on Fire, Woman Allegedly Drove While High

An excerpt from the Dedham Police Department's May 13-16 police log.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

May 13

  • At 6:09 p.m., an East Street resident reported that someone tried to break into his apartment between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Police referred the incident to detectives.

  • At 6:20 a.m., police were called to a Supreme Development construction site on High Street, across from St. Mary's Church. A caller reported 15 to 20 wooden pallets were stolen. Police located a suspect and reported that they will be moving forward with a hearing. Each pallet was estimated to be worth $2.
  • At 5:40 p.m., police and EMTs reported to Shiretown Road for a report of a man on fire. According to reports, the man had rolled on the ground and put the fire out before authorities arrived. Witnesses at the scene told police that the man was pouring gasoline into a leaf blower, and got some on him. "The next minute [he] was on fire," police stated, and a ball of fire went up into the air. Police did not release the victim's name.
  • At 6:38 p.m., police arrested 21-year-old Gina Annetti for allegedly driving under the influence of perscription medication and marijuana. Annetti allegedly crossed the double yellow line on High Street on several occassions, ran over a pedestrian sign in the middle of the road and forced other drivers to pull over to the side of the road. Police were investigating reports of hit-and-runs in the area of High Street and Lowder Street around the same time to see if Annetti hit any vehicles.

May 15

  • At 6:58 p.m., police received a report of a stolen purse from an unlocked car at . The woman told police that she believed the theft happened at 3:30 p.m. She was missing several credit and debit cards, her Social Security card, two driver's licenses and cash.

  • At 10:42 a.m., a Needham Street resident reported that sometime over the weekend, someone had attempted to break into their home.
