Police Log: Man Allegedly Stole Cologne to 'Smell Good'

Thursday, Jan. 12

  • At 7 p.m., police aided Boston Police with stopping a car traveling on Sprague Street from Boston into Dedham. One of the occupants had several small bags of heroin, according to reports.
  • At 8:44 p.m., police responded to for a report of a shoplifter.

Friday, Jan. 13

  • At 10:03 a.m., police responded to Lamoine Street for a report of malicious damage. Police believe someone shot a BB gun and broke a picture window of a home.
  • At 1:10 p.m., officers responded to after store employees reported that a man attempted to steal several sample cologne bottles. He turned over the cologne when confronted by employees, according to police. He told officers that he made "a mistake because I wanted to smell good," according to reports. The man will not face criminal charges.

Saturday, Jan. 14

  • At 10:25 a.m., a caller reported that their car had been broken into overnight while parked at . The caller said a GPS and iPod cables were taken.
  • At 3:37 p.m., a CVS employee called to report a theft earlier in the day. The employee stated that a woman was caught stealing baby formula. She paid for the formula after store employees confronted her and no criminal charges were filed, according to police.

Sunday, Jan. 15

  • At 11:38 a.m., no one was injured in a two-car crash near the Washington Street rotary. A 2010 Subaru Legacy ran a red light and crashed into the side of a 2009 Jeep Wrangler, according to police. The driver of the Subaru was cited for running the light.
  • At 7:01 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to Shiretown Road for a report of a chimney fire.

Monday, Jan. 16

  • At 7:36 a.m., a driver was taken to the hospital after he was T-boned on Milton Street. The driver of a 2000 Dodge told police that the glare of the sun prevented him from seeing the other vehicle, according to reports. Witnesses told police that they didn't see the Dodge apply brakes and officers didn't find skid marks at the accident scene, confirming the Dodge driver's story, according to reports.
  • At 3:23 p.m., police arrested 26-year-old Antonio Mina, of Weymouth, on charges of driving with a suspended license and providing a false name to police.
