Police Log: Maids Show at Wrong Home, Copper Stolen at NewBridge

An excerpt from the Dedham Police Department's April 19-22 police log.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

April 19

  • At 11:42 a.m., police responded to for a report of a theft of $6,900 worth of copper wire. Police have a suspect in the case.

  • At 1:41 p.m., six police officers responded to of a report of a missing 5-year-old. The child was found safely six minutes later.
  • At 3:59 p.m., police arrested Anthony Michaelidis, 22 of Dedham, after he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on the corner of Mt. Vernon Street and Whiting Avenue. Officer James Goode stated in his report that Michaelidis then sped between 40-45 m.p.h. past Dedham Middle School, ignoring Goode's lights and siren, illegally passed cars and made a left onto East Street. Goode finally stopped Michaelidis' gray Toyota Corolla on Jersey Street. Michaelidis was charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving to endanger and failure to stop for police.
  • At 7:03 p.m., a Greenlodge Street resident reported that a vehicle had damaged their front yard.
  • At 7:40 p.m., employees at reported that two shoplifting suspects fled the store one foot. A half-hour later, T.J. Maxx reported the same two suspects fled the store after shoplifting. Police have suspects, but have not made any arrests.

April 21

  • At 11:42 a.m., police received a report that two cars were broken into on Taylor Avenue.
  • At 1:07 p.m., a Pine Hill Road woman called police when she came home to find an unknown car in her driveway with her garage door opened. When police arrived, they found two females at the house who said they worked for a cleaning business and were at the wrong house.
  • At 12:35 p.m., police arrested Jai Howell, 27 of Quincy, on an active warrant for assaulting a police officer out of Dorchester District Court. Howell told officers that he went to to hand over release papers, but probation officers said he was mistakenly released from the Dorchester court, and police arrested him for the active warrant, according to a police report.

April 22

  • At 1:14 a.m., a caller alerted police that two people wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and baseball hats were smashed two car windows and tipped over trash barrels. Police responded, but were unable to locate anyone that fit the description.
