Police Log: Kids Blamed for Accident, Dad Accused of Theft With Young Daughter

Sunday, March 11

  • At 12:56 a.m., one person was transported to the hospital after a car swerved to avoid a cat and struck a utility pole. There were four other passengers, who did not report injuries at the scene.
  • At 2:39 p.m., a three-car accident on Bussey Street was blamed on "'kids' in the street purposely disrupting traffic flow." Those involved in the accident complained of minor injuries, but declined transportation to a hospital.
  • At 6:06 p.m., a father with his daughter at tried to steal $96 worth of groceries, according to police. The store will pursue the matter on their own, but police contacted the state's Department of Social Services.

Saturday, March 10

  • At 11:44 a.m., police were called to Dwight Street for a raccoon loose in a resident's backyard. With the homeowner's permission, a police officer fired two shotgun rounds and killed the animal.
  • At 3:20 p.m., a woman reported her wallet was stolen while shopping at . She didn't report any fraudulent activity to police.

  • At 7:03 a.m., police responded to Emmett Avenue for a report of a car break-in. The owner of the car thought he had remotely locked his car the night before, but discovered the remote's battery was dead. Two bottles of perscription medication were missing.
  • At 4:45 p.m., a woman reported to police that while eating dinner at an unidentified Legacy Place restaurant the evening before, she had her wallet stolen and more than $1,400 worth of purchases made. The woman's credit cards were found on Sunday in Brookline.
