Police Log: Juveniles Charged for Shoplifting at Ocean State Job Lot

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Monday, March 10

At 4:32 p.m., Dedham police received a report that a vehicle had been entered on Providence Highway and that a rear window of the vehicle had been broken; a purse was reportedly stolen from within. 

At about 7 p.m., police responded to CVS on Providence Highway to check on the well-being of a baby that was reportedly left in a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers checked the vehicle, which was parked in a handicap spot in front of the store, and found two children sleeping in car seats in the vehicle.

About two minutes after, officers spoke with a woman, who explained that she left her 12-year-old son in the car to watch his siblings. Police then discovered the son was laying down in the back seat.

At 3:12 p.m., Dedham Police responded to the Norfolk County Correction on West Street on a report of a female with an active warrant. The woman, identified as Nicole Slavin, 38, of Abington, was reportedly on the premises to pick up her boyfriend, according to police records, and police arrested her on a default warrant for failure to appear at Brockton District Court.

Thursday, March 13

At 4:31 p.m., police responded to Ocean State Job Lot on a report of four shoplifters that had fled the scene with back packs after they allegedly stole items from the store. Police searched for the suspects behind Stop and Shop and discovered them in the area of Willis and Washington streets. All admitted to police that they had been in Ocean State Job Lot. Loss prevention at the store told police they observed the youths concealing items from the store, including a knife and a tool set. POlice received about $40 in merchandise from one of the backpacks, which were photographed and returned to the store. Another back pack reportedly contained $50 worth of items including a lock, tool pieces and a laser pointer. The juveniles were arrested and transported back to the Dedham Police Department. 

Friday, March 14

At about 9:15 p.m., police responded to Classic Car Wash on Washington STreet on a report of an attempted larceny. Police spoke with a caller who claimed she was parked in front of the entrance to Sears and was using her tablet device when a woman came up to her driver's side door and attempted to open it. The driver was able to grab the door handle and pull it closed, and the other woman then went to her own vehicle then drove off. Police eventually learned the woman made a mistake and though she was getting into her own car. 

Saturday, March 15

At 7:04 a.m., Boston Police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert regarding two men who were allegedly attempting to breaking into a vehicle in the area of Waterloo Street in Hyde Park. The vehicle was reportedly stolen. 

At 11:12 p.m., a Jersey Street resident reported that her son received a text message from an unknown person who said they were going to bomb their residence in Needham where they no longer lived. Needham Police were notified to check on the residence. 

Sunday, March 16

At 2:31 p.m., a Ware Street resident reported that a man known to her robbed $95 from her purse while she was holding it in the driveway of her residence. 

At 9:17 p.m., police arrested an individual on Sprague Street for carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute. 

Monday, March 17

At 4:18 p.m., police arrested Olujimi Fayemiwo, 24, of Brockton, for shoplifting by concealing merchandise (third offense).
