Police Log: Dancer Hit at Legacy, Swerving Driver Nabbed

Sunday, Feb. 26

  • At 12:25 a.m., police responded to an unidentified establishment for a report of a person hit in the forehead. The victim said he was on the dance floor when he was struck above his right eye. The suspect fled the scene, and police couldn't locate him. The victim was treated a the scene and declined a transport to a hospital.
  • At 1:22 a.m., officers pulled over a pick-up truck on Providence Highway after the truck swerved several times, changed lanes without signaling, and almost caused a three-car accident. When questioned, the driver stated he didn't have a license and he was driving because his wife, who was sitting in the passenger's seat, was not in a state to drive. Police learned that the driver had a suspended license. He was cited for a marked lanes violation and operating after suspension.

Saturday, Feb. 25

  • At 12:09 p.m., police responded to the area of and  for a . After finding the suspect, police determined the weapon was an Airsoft gun, and didn't pose a threat.

Friday, Feb. 24

  • At 10:40 a.m., a woman reported that she received a collections letter for a past due Sprint account, but told police she has never opened a Sprint account. Police are investigating this as a case of stolen identity.
  • At 12:23 p.m., an officer responded to Pine Street for the report of a past malicious damage. A resident told police that someone had fired a pellet gun and broken one of her windows.
  • At 1:30 p.m., police arrested 30-year-old Matthew DaSilva, of Raynham, for allegedly receiving more than $900 in stolen merchandise from two unidentified Legacy Place stores.
