Police Log: Cyclist Crashes Through Dedham Store Window

The following excerpts are from Dedham Police reports from Oct. 21 to Oct. 27. The arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

The following are incidents that the Dedham Police Department responded to recently based upon police reports provided to Dedham Patch:

On Oct. 22,  a Vincent Road resident informed police that he found an empty plastic water bottle, that was made into a bong, inside his bushes.

On Oct. 22,  police were called to Sears on Providence Highway for a shoplifting incident.  The suspect attempted to steal one pair of sweat pants, a necklace and a pair of earrings. The total of the three items was $293.  The suspect, who was not named, was summonsed to Dedham Court.

On Oct. 23, Peony Pavillion Restaurant on Bussey Street reported a bicyclist was riding down the street when he lost control of his bike and fell into the store window, shattering it.

On Oct. 23 , a caller reported a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road on High Street and crossing over the center lines numerous times.  When police caught up the vehicle, they found a 99 year-old Dedham man who had trouble parking in the CVS.  Police transported the man home and drove his vehicle home as well. The Council of Aging was contacted.

On Oct. 25 a Dedham caller reported she was a victim of a phone scam.  The woman received a call from someone saying she needed to update her Medicare card.  The woman gave out personal information before hanging up.

On Oct. 26 police responded to the Auld Sod pub after someone reported a fight.  An arriving officer came across a man who had been struck in the face.  The man said he was followed outside be a group of males and one of them struck him in the face.  The suspect was described as a taller man with a white button down shirt. 

On Oct. 26 a Dedham resident reported a package that was delivered to her house, carrying shoes, was stolen. 

On Oct. 26, Sears security caught a male shoplifter who stole $228 of assorted clothing by placing it in his backpack.  The man was summonsed to court.
