Police Log: Cutting Off and Swearing at Chief Not Recommended

The following is an excerpt from the Dedham Police Department log from April 19-21. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account.

Saturday, April 21

  • At 4:44 a.m., police tracked down two women staying at a local hotel who jumped from a cab without paying a fare. Once police confronted the pair, they paid the fare without any issue.
  • At 12:53 p.m., police arrested Timothy Leary, 23 of West Roxbury, on a charge of operating to endanger and driving with a suspended license. Leary was driving a motorcycle and passed a vehicle on the left on Bridge Street, crossing over the double-solid yellow line, police said.
  • At 11:26 p.m., police arrested Richard Manning, 25 of Dedham, on three outstanding warrants.

Friday, April 20

  • At 1:20 a.m., a caller reported a man tried to break into a home on Maverick Street. The suspect fled on foot, and police were unable to locate him. 
  • At 6:55 p.m., one person was taken to the hospital following a car accident in Dedham Square. The driver of a 1999 Ford F250 attempted to make a U-Turn around the traffic island from Eastern Avenue onto High Street and back onto Eastern Avenue when it was hit by a 2002 Nissan Maxima, which was driving straight when it hit the truck.

  • At 6:45 p.m., a driver pulled a U-Turn on Sprague Street, and in the process, cut off Dedham Police Chief Michael d'Entremont as he drove in an unmarked car. As the driver drove past d'Entremont, the man allegedly used choice words. The chief issued a citation for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
