Police Log: Car on Concrete Blocks, Alleged Deadly Assault with Car Keys

An excerpt from the Dedham Police Department's April 23 through 27 police log.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

April 23

  • At 12:30 a.m., officer Michael Schoener reported that he noticed a commercial van parked behind the with a shattered passenger-side window. Behind the window was a metal cage, and Schoener reported that it didn't appear that anyone gained access to the van. The company who owns the van was notified.
  • At 2:49 p.m., police arrested 54-year-old Barry Rotman, of Lakeville, for allegedly trying to leave with $554 worth of unpaid groceries in a cart. When police confronted Rotman, he allegedly had $201 worth of groceries inside his car. Police believe Rotman had a female accomplice. He was charged with larceny over $250.
  • At 9:21 p.m., police spotted two cars with a total of five young individuals loitering in the parking lot of . Police said due to ongoing complaints of underage drinking and loud noise at night, they stopped and asked the individuals to leave the school. One of the individuals, Dennis Shaun Rogers, 20 of East Boston, had an arrest warrant out of Dedham District Court. Police transported him back to the police station without incident.

  • At 1:40 a.m., police pulled Richard Wendler, 51 of Dedham, over for speeding on Providence Highway near the Dedham Plaza. Police said Wendler had an active warrant out of for driving with a suspended license. He was arrested and brought to the station. Officer James Lemanski said Wendler was uncooperative, confrontational and made threatening statements to police during the booking process.
  • At 8:22 a.m., police responded to for a report of malicious damage. When they arrived, they noticed about 100 feet of an outfield fence on a baseball field knocked over. Police notified and the .

April 25

  • At 9:12 a.m., police arrested 28-year-old Martha Omorodion, of Dedham, at her East Street apartment for allegedly punching her roommate in the head while holding a pair of keys in her hand. When police arrived they found the roommate suffering from a swollen and bleeding head. A witness told police that the roommate was moving out when Omorodion confronted her about a check. Police charged Omorodion with assault and assault with a deadly weapon - the keys.
  • At 12:14 p.m., police responded to President's Way after a caller reported that all four tires and wheels were missing off his 2007 Acura TL Type-S and his car was on concrete blocks. The estimated value of the stolen items is $1,500, according to police.

April 26

  • At 9:54 a.m., police received a report that a 2006 Honda Civic was keyed over night while it was parked in a garage on East Street. According to police, the garage has security cameras.

April 27

  • At 3:43 p.m., a caller reported seeing two men in their 20s with paintball guns. They fled in an older model white pick-up truck. Police were unable to locate the two males.
  • At 3:46 p.m., a two-car accident on Providence Highway sent three people to Norwood Hospital.
