Police Log: Attempted Grocery Theft, Housebreaks Reported

An excerpt from the Dedham Police Department's April 11 and 12 police log.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

April 11
  • At 12:25 p.m., Dedham Police arrested a 35-year-old Hyde Park woman for allegedly stealing $294 worth of groceries. An employee at called police to report that Jessica Brown put the groceries into bags and attempted to leave the store without paying for them, a police report stated. When Brown was confronted by police, she asked if she could pay for them and not be arrested, but police told her that wasn't an option, according to a police report Brown was charged with larceny over $250.

  • At 1:13 p.m., police reported that a gray Nissan Sentra ran into another car on Washington Street High Street, but didn't stop and turned left onto High Street toward East Dedham. 

April 12

  • At 2:30 p.m., a Kiely Road resident reported to police that cash and jewlery was missing from a home. Police currently have a suspect.

  • At 5:56 p.m., a caller reported that someone had broken into their Curve Street home and stolen tools.
  • At 9:10 p.m., police cited Paul Davis, 61 of Dedham, for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign on the corner of Bussey and Colburn streets, and driving with a revoked license. Davis was arrested and his car was towed.
