Police: Hyde Park Man Pulls Knife on Gilbert's Employees

Stephen McVey, 38, now faces assault charges.

A Hyde Park man allegedly pulled a knife on two employees at  Friday night, and now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

According to reports, 38-year-old Stephen McVey purchased alcohol from the Washington Street liquor store, and then got into a verbal argument with the employees about their prices.

As the argument unfolded, McVey pulled out a folded buck knife and pointed it at the employees, the victims told police. McVey told officers that one of the store employees pulled a baseball bat out first and threatened him, reports stated.

McVey had left the store before police arrived, but they found him walking on East Street, walking toward High Street.

He was arrested and later posted $200 bail.
