Police Charge Two Women With Shoplifting Groceries

Friday, Feb. 3

  • At 2:50 p.m., Dedham Police arrested John O'Connor, 51 of Taunton, on a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested near Oakdale Square.
  • At 2:58 p.m., a three-car accident on the corner of Providence Highway and Elm Street did not cause any reported injuries.
  • At 8:09 p.m., officers responded to on Milton Street for a report of malicious damage to a car.

Saturday, Feb. 4

  • At 1:42 a.m., police responded to Bussey Street for a one-car accident that sent a distracted driver from the roadway into a stone wall. 
  • At 1:35 p.m., officers arrested two women for allegedly trying to steal groceries from by not scanning a majority of them at the self-scan register. Gloria Gaston, 20 of Roslindale, and 68-year-old Joann Smith, also of Roslindale, attempted to steal $390 and $260 worth of groceries, respectively, according to police. The women were charged with larceny over $250.
  • At 6:59 p.m., police arrested Louis Frazier, Jr., 40 of Hyde Park, and charged him with driving with a suspended registration.

Sunday, Feb. 5

  • At 12 p.m., police responded to a stolen vehicle report at an unidentified home. A woman told police that her husband took her car without her consent and that he has had his license revoked by the state. Police stated they will seek charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and operating with a revoked license against the unidentified suspect.
  • At 4:55 p.m., police were investigating an alleged hit-and-run on East Street.
  • At 10:14 p.m., police responded to the area of Greensboro Road for a report of fireworks.
