Police Arrest W. Newton Woman for Allegedly Driving Drunk

Melissa Connolly also faces charges of driving to endanger.

Dedham Police arrested a 22-year-old West Newton woman early Sunday morning for alleged drunken driving.

Police reported that Michelle Connolly swerved in and out of multiple lanes on Providence Highway and came within two feet of hitting a telephone pole on the side of the road before swerving back into traffic.

Officer James Lemanski pulled Connolly’s 2006 BMW 325i over at stated that her speech was slurred and eyes were glassy.

Connolly told officers that she had two beers at the Oasis Bar before getting into her car, according to police reports.

Lemanski reported that Connolly failed two out of the three field sobriety tests, and was arrested.

At the police station, officers tested the woman’s blood alcohol content at .19 percent, more than double the legal limit, police reports stated.

Connolly was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger and a marked lanes violation.
