Mt. Vernon Hit by Car Break-ins

Several car were entered into last week by thieves.

Five car owners reported break-ins on Mt. Vernon Street Wednesday and Thursday, according to police reports.

Thieves stole everything from change to iPods, backpacks, clothing and cash. The reports state that most of the cars were left unlocked.

Two cars were broken into on Berkeley Road Wednesday night, and a woman reported thieves took change, an iPod, clothes and cigarettes from her car and her sister's car.

The trend continued onto Bridge Street, as another car owner reported that someone stole approximately $11 in change from their unlocked car.

A spokesperson didn't immediately return phone calls for comment on Friday.
