More Car Break-ins; Teen Arrested After Alleged Property Damage

Mt. Vernon Street and surrounding neighborhood saw two more car break-ins over the weekend.

Here's a look at the daily police log for Monday, Aug. 23.

  • Car break-in trouble continued for the Mt. Vernon Street-area as a person reported Friday that their car, which they parked on Dartmouth Avenue, had a pair of sunglasses stolen, and an iPod cord, according to police reports. Last week several cars on Mt. Vernon reported iPods stolen.
  • A car owner parked on Mt. Vernon also reported Friday that someone stole a GPS system along with an iPod.
  • Six police officers responded to a call about a "large group of youths" drinking alcohol in the woods near Whiting Avenue, according to reports. Police broke up the get-together. 
  • Private police detail at Legacy Place reported at 9 p.m. Friday night to their on-duty co-workers that someone stole merchandise from Free People. When on-duty police arrived, the person was gone, according to police reports.
  • Dedham Police arrested a local teen after he and a group of others allegedly smashed flower pots outside Curves at 244 River St. early Sunday morning. Police found another destroyed flower pot outside of 240 River St. The police report explained that the arrested teenager returned to the scene, where police apprehended him. Police released the teen on his own recognizance a few hours later.
