Mattapan Man Charged with Trying to Pass Fake Check at Eastern Bank in Dedham

Suspect allegedly passed a bad check at West Roxbury's Eastern Bank, too. The following arrest information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Boston Police arrested a Mattapan man for allegedly trying to pass a bad check at the  in Dedham.

Orlando Keon Range, 25 Doone Ave., Mattapan, was arrested on June 24 at 12:29 p.m. and charged with uttering, use of a fraudulent check(s) and attempt to commit larceny of more than $250.

Boston Police were called to in West Roxbury for a person trying to pass a bad check. A teller told police that she tried to post a check for $1,275.63, but her computer said the account was closed, according to a police report.

When the suspect was asked how he attained the check, he allegedly asked to speak to an officer away from the teller. They went to the other side of the lobby, and the suspect said he received the check in the mail that morning, and he said he did not work for the company or know of the company, which had operated the closed account. 

An officer spoke to the closed checking account's owner, who said the check was fraudulent, said police. The victim said another check had been cashed in Dedham earlier that day at . That check was made out to the suspect.

During booking the suspect allegedly told an officer that he was unemployed. Police seized $468.82 from Range, and secured it in a police money locker.
