Truck Loaded With 7,000 Lbs. of Lobster Crashes into Westwood Bridge, Causes Train Delays

Trains along the Franklin Line were significantly delayed Tuesday.

A truck carrying about $100,000 worth of lobster crashed into a Commuter Rail train bridge in on East Street in Westwood Tuesday morning, causing significant delays to riders of the MBTA's Franklin Line. 

The 13-foot Ryder rental truck was reportedly carrying 7,000 pounds of lobster when it crashed into the bridge, after which a small fire ignited in the vehicle's air conditioning unit, according to CBS Boston.

The contents of the truck reportedly spilled onto the roadway, prompting cleanup efforts Tuesday morning, NECN reported.

As a result of the incident, heavy delays were expected until at least 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, according to the MBTA. Get the latest updates here.
