Fuel Spill Reported Near Washington Street Rotary, Dedham Square

Bus service was disrupted in the area of the Dedham Rotary due to the incident.

Emergency crews in Dedham responded to a report of a Tier 1 HazMat situation for a fuel spill at the intersection of Rte. 1 and Washington Street Thursday afternoon, Dedham Firefighters IAFF Local #1735 said

The incident reportedly according at Super Petroleum at 405 Providence Hwy, where @NEFirebuff reported on Twitter that about 20 gallons of an unknown substance had spilled.

The Dedham Fire Department sent two cars and two engines to the scene, and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection was also notified, according to Dedham Firefighters IAFF Local #1735.

The MBTA also issued an alert around 4:30 Thursday warning riders that Bus Rte. 35E detoured off Washington Street in Dedham due to the situation, with suspended service between the Dedham Rotary and Dedham Square. 

Bypassed stops included Washington Street at Harris Street (outbound), Washington Street at School Street (outbound), 272 Washington St. (inbound) and Washington Street at High Street (inbound).
