Foxborough Man Slams Truck into Cedar Street Guardrail, Suffers Head Laceration

Dedham Police cited the driver for failure to yield.

A 41-year-old Foxborough man was sent to an area hospital early Thursday morning after he swerved his Dodge pickup truck into a guardrail on Cedar Street, police said.

The man, use identity was not released by police, claimed that his engine was smoking and he couldn't see in front of him. He then told police that he oversteered his truck and slammed into a guardrail between Border and Turner streets, causing his car to catch fire.

A witness told police that she turned onto Cedar Street in front of the man, and that it looked like he was going to pass her, but the next thing she knew he had slammed into the guardrail, according to police.

The man complained of neck pain and suffered a head laceration, a police report stated.

Officer Ryan McCarthy cited the driver for failure to yield. He stated in his report that between the witness' statement and the amount of damage to the guardrail, he must've been driving at a high rate of speed.

Traffic was blocked on Cedar Street while crews worked to put out the fire.
