Firecrackers Seized in Dedham After Report of Shots Fired

State Police had issued an alert for three men who police thought discharged a gun in West Roxbury, but it turned out to be a firecracker.

stopped three males Wednesday at around 7:35 p.m. who Massachusetts State Police reported to have discharged a gun at a in West Roxbury on Rte. 1, Dedham Police stated.

Officer Scott Peterson approached a blue Chevrolet sedan with his gun drawn, and ordered the three men out of the car, according to a police report.

After placing the three men in handcuffs, police said they searched the car and found "a small amount" of firecrackers" in the car - but no weapon.

The men told police that they threw firecrackers out of the car window at Burger King before leaving the parking lot, according to police.

The three males were released without charges, and police confiscated the firecrackers.
