Fire Dept: Blaze Collapses Roof of River Street Home, Cause Unknown

The roof of the building collapsed as a result of the 2-alarm fire.

A two-alarm fire caused "major damage" to the domestic building at 7 River Street early Sunday morning, according to Dedham Police Department. At 1:30 a.m. 13 members of the Department responded to the address along with members of the Boston Fire Department.

The building was vacant and there were no injuries, according  to Deputy Chief Neilan from the Dedham Fire Department.

It took around three hours to quell the blaze, which had caused the roof to cave in according to Deputy Chief Neilan. Fire fighters remained on the scene until around 7 a.m. to check for flare ups caused by the blaze, but there was no exposure damage to nearby buildings.
