Webster was held on $1 million cash bail.

A probable cause hearing was set for April 4. During the televised court procedings, Assistant County Attorney Karen Gorham told the judge that 15 rounds were allegedly fired by Webster, who "emptied his gun" at the scene.

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch released the following statement this morning regarding the shooting:

“My thoughts and prayers, and those of my wife Susan, are with the officer and his entire family at this time. We pray for his quick and full recovery.

“Wednesday evening’s incident is a stark reminder of the dangers the men and women of law enforcement face everyday. This officer, like so many across our state, risked his life to keep all of us safe. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.

“I want to thank Chief Mara, and the men and women of the Manchester Police Department for their dedication, their courage and professionalism in what I know is a difficult time for the department.”

According to this post on the Manchester Police website, Doherty was injured in during a 2010 foot chase that resulted in the arrest of some juveniles.

Doherty also is listed as a participant in this year's Battle of the Badges ice hockey fundraiser for ChAD, a good-natured rivalry between local police officers and firefighters, which is scheduled for March 31 at the Verizon Wireless Areana in Manchester.

Manchester Police continue to investigate the shooting.
