Driver Avoids Dog, Crashes Into Pole in Dedham

The following excerpts are from Dedham Police reports from Nov. 11 to Nov. 17.

The following are incidents that the Dedham Police Department responded to recently based upon police reports provided to Dedham Patch: 

On Nov. 11 a shoplifter was charged with stealing $86 from TJ Max.

On Nov. 12, a  shoplifter was detained after he/she was caught stealing  $135 worth of clothes from Urban Outfitters at Legacy Place.  The suspect’s mother was notified.  The suspect was not identified. 

On  Nov. 12, police reported a driver on Oakland Street swerved to the right to avoid hitting a dog and crashed into a utility pole, causing the pole and wires to come down.

On Nov. 15 a shoplifter at Stop & Shop was caught stealing an item worth $14.35.  The store said the man would not be welcomed back.

On Nov. 16 a Dedham couple reported a phone scam.  The caller said they had won $1 million but would need to purchase a pre-paid credit card at CVS with $200 to redeem the prize.  The caller also stated that they would be arriving at the victim’s house with Channel 7 News and the prize.

On Nov. 16, a caller reported smashed pumpkins on Mt Vernon and Sanderson Street.  Police found a large group of youths made up of boys and girls who were loitering in front of the Tedeschi’s.  They were informed to stop loitering.

On Nov. 16 police were called to Showtime Cinema after two customers got into a verbal argument over seating.

On Nov. 17 a caller reported a beer bottle was thrown through his car window.  The location of the incident was not released by police.

On Nov. 17, a woman was caught shoplifting numerous items from Sears.  The woman allegedly stole a Hello Kitty Bag, Converse shoes, Disney shoes, Gerber socks, any clothes in a TJ Maxx bag.  The woman, who spoke Spanish,  was handcuffed and booked.
