DPD Offers Vacation Safety Tips for Residents
Those headed on vacation this summer should follow these tips before leaving home.
The has provided safety tips for residents in town to keep in mind when traveling this summer:
- Notify your local police department. Leave a contact number in case of emergency.
- Stop newspaper and mail delivery or arrange for a neighbor or friend to pick them up for you. Don’t let the mail or newspapers pile up.
- Arrange for lawn service.
- Arrange for pet care.
- Check your alarm system and notify the companies that monitor your fire and burglar alarms.
- Cut shrubs below window level and trim trees away from your house.
- Purchase light timers or leave a few lights on in your home .
- Lock all doors and windows.
- Leave a key, itinerary, alarm code and phone number with a trustworthy neighbor.
