Dedham Police Will Take Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs on April 27

The Dedham Police Department is offering the prescription drug take-back program in order to prevent the possibility of theft, misuse, and abuse.

The Dedham Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will help prevent pill abuse and theft by asking the public to rid their homes of expired, unused and unwanted prescription on drugs on April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue.  Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse," Dedham Police said in a statement.  "Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs."
