Dedham Police Logs: Break-ins, Shoplifting, Disturbances and More

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

 

Friday, Nov. 2

(5:55 p.m.) According to police reports, a woman stated that her Visa Debit card was used fraudulently.  She claimed that she must have dropped it in a store that she was at.  When she checked her account, she noticed that it was used to pay for something at a local gas station.  Later, the Boston Police found her card while searching a motor vehicle.  She was advised to keep an eye on her credit report.

(9:22 p.m.) According to police reports, there was a vehicle that was entered.  the vehicle was identified as a 2001 Ford Taurus and was parked at the owner's house at Youngs Road.  The owner told police that she left her car unlocked.  A Garmin GPS unit was taken from the vehicle.

Saturday, Nov. 3

(10:10 a.m.) According to police reports, there was a man shoplifting several bottles of cologne at a local store.  The male concealed the bottles in his pants and put them in his car.  He then returned to the store and grabbed 3 sweaters and attempted to leave again, but was stopped by Loss Prevention personnel.  When police found the items in his car, he was placed under arrest. 

(10:36 a.m.) According to police reports, a man stole an iPhone while the owner of the phone was at the concession stand.  Police viewed a video of the perpetrator taking the phone while the owner wasn't looking and then walked into movie theater 6.  When the suspect was stopped after leaving the theater, he was asked about the iPhone.  He stated that he found the phone by his seat.  But the perpetrator and his girlfriend were trespassed from Showcase Cinema.

 

Sunday, Nov. 4

(12:28 a.m.) According to police reports, there was a disturbance at the intersection of Washington Street and Elm Street on the MBTA.  The operator of the bus explained to police that there was a group of patrons who tried to board the bus without paying their fare.  Soon after police arrived, the MBTA Police came and took over the investigation.

(2:48 a.m.) Police responded to a report on an unwanted party.  According to reports, the resident owner wanted some people to be removed from the house.  He claimed that they didn't pay for room or board, and they were staying there on an invite basis.  The police instructed the group to leave the residence.

(6:10 p.m.) According to police reports, there was a shoplifter at the Dedham Mall.  Upon arrival the police was informed that a female had taken the price tags off of two scarfs and walked out of the store wearing them. Each scarf cost $35.  According to reports, she was shopping with her her husband and son, both were unaware of the situation.  The dispute was settled between the wife and Loss Prevention Officers.
