Dedham Police Logs: Beer Can Strikes Man in Face

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Thursday, Aug. 16 

Car Entered on Providence Highway (10:45 a.m.) - Police received report of a shattered vehicle window on Providence Highway. Upon arrival, police found another vehicle on the road had also been entered. The owner reported that she returned to her vehicle in a nearby parking lot and noticed that her front passenger window as shattered and her pocketbook was missing. The matter remains under investigation.

Dedham Man Arrested on Warrant (10:49 p.m.) - Police arrested a 28-year-old Dedham man on a warrant out of Worcester District Court for defacing property and attempting to commit a crime.

Framingham Man Arrested (2:06 a.m.) - Police arrested a 45-year-old man from Framingham for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police responded to the area of Providence Highway after receiving reports of an accident by The Framingham man was the driver of small black Hyundai, and police arrested him after discovering his license, issued out of Florida, had been suspended indefinitely. 

Car Damaged at Dedham Square (6:05 p.m.) - A black Nissan Maxima with an Ohio registration was passing through Dedham Square as construction trucks were working when rocks and gravel rolled of the top of a dump truck and onto the Maxima as it passed the work site. The incident resulted in minor scratches to the Maxima's black paint on the roof line above the passenger side door, according to police reports. 

Hyde Park Man Arrested (10:47 p.m.) - A 31-year-old man from Hyde Park was arrested on Providence Highway for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

Sunday, Aug. 19 

Man Struck with Beer Can (11:23 p.m.) - Police responded to East Street on the Dedham-Westwod line on a report of a motorist being struck in the face with a beer can, according to reports. The motorist reportedly had a fresh abrasion near his left eye and a swollen lip, and claimed he was driving on East Street when something was thrown at his truck. The man allegedly confronted three youths in the area, and during the discussion one of them threw a beer can at the man, striking him in the face and breaking his glasses.
