Dedham Police Log: Shoplifting, IRS Fraud and More

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

 

Monday, April 15

(8:56 p.m.) There was a report of a shoplifter in custody at a store on Providence Highway.  The loss prevention team of the store told police that they observed the suspect attempting to steal $1000 worth of merchandise. The shoplifter was arrested, according to reports.

Tuesday, April 16

(1:09 a.m.)  Dedham Police responded to call on Curve Street about a report of malicious damage and graffiti.  The caller told police that when she arrives home, she noticed that someone wrote profanity on her property with a black marker.  A report was filed.

(3:43 p.m.) Dedham Police arrived at the Dedham Mall for reports of a shoplifter.  The loss prevention team told police that they observed the women stealing multiple men and women clothing items that valued at $715.97.  The woman was given a criminal complaint.

Wednesday, April 17

(12:07 a.m.)  There was a report of attempted larceny on Harvard Street. A white man wearing all black was in a residents car attempting to steal it, according to a caller.  When Dedham Police arrived, the man ran out of the area.  A report was filed. 

(12:52 p.m.)  A man walked into the police station and reported that his wife's social security number was compromised.  He attempted to file their taxes, but the tax returns were rejected because his wife's social security number matched one on another return.  A report was filed and he was given an identity theft form.

Thursday, April 18

(6:42 p.m.) A woman walked into the police station and told police that she was a victim of identity theft, according to reports.  She explained that her taxes were rejected because a tax return was already filed with her social security number.  She was given information on identity theft and a report was filed.

Sunday, April 21

(8:27 p.m.) Dedham Police arrived at the Dedham Mall for reports of employee theft.  The loss prevention team told police that their employee took $60 from a register and placed it into a trash barrel.  The employee already had two default warrants and was arrested.
