Dedham Police Log: Stolen Vehicles, Shoplifting and More

The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

 

Monday, Mar. 4

(12:13 p.m.) According to police reports, malicious damage was done to vehicle. There were two large gouges on the passenger side and part of the hub cap was damaged. The vehicle owner was advised to contact her insurance company.

(3:23 p.m.) Dedham Police stopped a vehicle on Providence Highway for speeding and then found a clear plastic bag in the vehicle that contained heroin. The driver was placed under arrest.

(7:19 p.m.) Dedham Police responded to a report of a shoplifter on Providence Highway. According to reports, the suspect walked into the restroom with a packaged cell phone and tried to remove the security devices with a pair of scissors.  When the store's Loss Prevention team caught him, he handed the phone back and was trespassed from the store.

(8:11 p.m.) According to reports, a woman tried to shoplift a cordless grill ($219 value) from a store on Providence Highway. The suspect was transported to the police station.

Tuesday, Mar. 5

(2:15 p.m.) Dedham Police responded to River Street for a report of malicious damage to a vehicle. The owner works in the area and found the back window smashed.  There were surveillance cameras in the building so Dedham Police told the vehicle owner that they would look at the tape to identify a suspect.

Thursday, Mar. 7

(2:29 a.m.) According to police reports, there was a vehicle stolen from a parking lot. The owner of the vehicle told police that he had the keys to the vehicle, but believes that he left the doors unlocked.

Saturday, Mar. 9

(5:15 p.m.) There were reports of a shoplifter at the Dedham Mall. According to reports, he was in custody at the store for attempting to walk out of the store with a pair of boots and a suit coat ($370 value) without paying for them. The suspect was placed under arrest and was transported to the police station.
