Dedham Police Issue Vacation Reminder to Local Residents

Here's a list of reminders before heading out for a few days.

As Independence Day gets underway and Dedham residents prepare for any planned summer vacations this season, the Dedham Police Department this week released a list of summer vacation tips to keep in mind before heading out of town.

Vacation Safety Tips

  • Notify the Dedham Police Department that you are leaving and leave a contact number in case of emergency.
  • Stop newspaper and mail delivery or arrange for a neighbor or friend to pick them up for you. Don't let the mail or newspapers pile up.
  • Arrange for lawn service.
  • Arrange for pet care.
  • Check alarm systems and notify alarm companies that monitor your fire and burglar alarms.
  • Cut shrubs below window level and trim trees away from your home.
  • Lock all doors and windows
  • Leave a key, itinerary, alarm code and phone number with a trustworthy neighbor.
